Carter-ism's

Wednesday: Carter greets me at the garage door in his underpants and comes running up to me and jumps into my arms. He then grabs my cheeks and says,
"Mommy! I thought I lost you!"

Friday: Carter is at Sports Clips with Cole and I because it's "Hair Cut Friday" and as Carter sits perfectly still having his hair cut the stylists asks him how old he is. Carter promptly replies, "I'm a kid!"

Pretty awesome week in Smithville.

Father's Day

Began like this.....

With a splash of an Irish "Riverdance" interpretation.

And ended like this.....

Cole lost his front tooth....and Carter needed to show us his teeth too.

A Mummified Cat

Cole has a book full of experiments and scientific information that he totes around with him almost everywhere we go....Cole loves science. Loves it.
Last week Chris and he sat down at the table and read all about Egypt and mummys and mummifying....

Then they made a mummy cat. Then Cole made a few more with Grandpa Bob and a few more at home for Carter. We have around 25 mummy cats around the house. (they are made from toilet rolls or paper towel rolls, tin foil, and masking tape)

Here it is:

(You'll notice a yellow giraffe in the background here....made out of toilet paper rolls again....we get alot of use out of toilet rolls here at our house. The kids can make anything out of them. A little bit of paint and voila. Art.)

Fun Stuff So Far

So far our summer has been just fantastic. We really haven't had that great of weather. The warmest temp we've seen has been in the high 70's and of course wind always accompanies it.  This week Cole is signed up for a Summer Science Camp at EITC (East Idaho Technical College) So naturally Cole thinks he's going to college at 6 years old. For some reason...I see no reason to discourage this. I mean....hello...let's be excited about school. Yes. Very good indeed. This week is Rainforest's and next week is Bug Fun. Carter was a little miffed that he could not stay too for all the fun.....as you can see below. Poor Carter. We returned home to more fun...such as potty training.....bribery with gum. Eh. Not so shabby.

Cole is learning to swim....since he didn't know how below...I made sure he had a life vest instead. For 2 feet of water. Hey, whatever makes him feel good.  I'm holding onto some bit of being a little boy...since today he told me that he's going into 2nd grade so he needs to drop the "mmy" of Mommy and just call me "Mom". Eek. That doesn't sound very good to me!

And of course......the bug is back to life and in full working order.....

2 little boys are pretty happy to have a fun project now with their dad.

About 1,000 pieces....

20 hours later.....a few swear words....and some serious bonding between Chris and I.....

(this is at 9 am Sunday morning. The kids could not wait. They played. I ate breakfast, drank coffee (alot of it), and read the paper on the deck. It was awesome.

Then for lunch the kids asked to eat in their new fort...and I couldn't say no. They are in bliss. Cole took a few of his books into it as well and spent a good 40 minutes reading in his new fort too.

It was a pretty awesome day.
