LITTLE BIRDS

We were fixing our fence on Saturday and we noticed we had a nest in the tree in our backyard. As I went to turn on the water for the hose I heard a loud squawk and looked up to see a momma bird defending her nest....oh I was SO excited! I ran to get Cole and he took a look at the bird and told me "Mom, it's a red breasted robin!". (Alrighty then!) So now that our 4 year old genius child had identified the bird I decided it was time for photos.

I really really hope she has a nest full of eggs so we'll have babies. It has been so fun to watch her and a few other "red breasted robins" fly around. Now when we turn on the water we all talk to her. I'm hoping she'll get used to us and she will stick around. The nest she built is quite impressive. I think she's a good momma robin..or excuse me...red breasted robin as Cole would say.....
Here she is. She is just gorgeous!

Here's a good picture of her nest. I hope it's filled with little babies!

The other little bird in our family is Mr. Carter. Carter is just all smiles. And chub!

FIRST RIDE OF 09

This afternoon Cole, Carter, and I took our first walk and bike ride of 2009. It is a very nice day and I was excited to get out and go for a walk. We've been lucky to have such nice weather (except for the days with the 40mph wind gust). Chris and I have been really working hard on our yard also so I wanted to post a picture of our progress. I planted some hydrangea plants and they are thriving and I see some blossoms getting ready to grow. Hydrangeas are my very favorite flower. I had 4 plants at our 12th street house and I really miss them. Anyways...our tree is blossoming white flowers and smells so good. We are going to do some more yard work on Saturday. Tomorrow is our 5 year anniversary! I can't even believe it's been 5 years. Totally awesome. We are going to go to Salt Lake City on Sunday and enjoy ourselves. I'm really looking forward to it.

Here are the kiddies. Carter giggled and squealed the entire time we were out walking and Cole rode his bike very well.

Here's Coley posing with Mr. Carter. Cole is such a little ham.
And we are off.....

P.s. While we were walking/riding Cole and I were doing his math problems. He knows all the numbers 1-10 that add to 1 or 2 or 3...

so I would say "what is 1 + 3" and he would reply 4! I think he might be a genius! ;)

COLE'S DADDY

More birthday fun here. We just can't get enough. How fun is that? Cole probably had as much fun singing and opening his Dad's presents as he would have if it had been his birthday.
Cole was nearly hyperventilating while we were watching Chris open presents. Chris was very excited to get a signed photo of Richard Roundtree (the ORIGINAL SHAFT! "can you dig it" says Chris!) Chris nearly passed out...we'll be framing this little special nugget. Thanks Ryan...you are awesome!!!
Here is Chris reading the birthday cards from Cole and Carter and opening the matchbox cars Cole picked out for him.
And here it is....the orange dump truck from Lego's.
Cole woke up Sunday morning at 6 a.m. and came into our room asking right away if he and Chris could put it together. After I tried for an hour to convince Cole to go back to bed (or get in bed with me and snuggle) we finally got up and Chris and he put it together. Cole has slept with the dump truck on the headboard of his bed all week.

Cole sure loves his Daddy...and Chris sure loves his Coley.

CHRIS TURNED 29!

Sunday was Chris' 29th birthday...so we celebrated all weekend long of course! We had an eclectic birthday party for him and today the boys all sported their new tattoos. Pretty CUTE and HILARIOUS! Cole is sure they are "the real ones!" Carter was also up to his normal trouble making (just kidding!) and has discovered how fun it is to stand in his crib (he has figured out how to pull himself up) and talk! He is pretty loud. Enjoy the photos.
