THE HIKE (and the bear)

Chris (aka SuperDad) took Cole on his first hike with Troop 310-Tiger Cubs. Cole still swears up and down he out ran a bear. The bear has now become a baby bear and he also pet it and gave it a hug. Next week it will be something new. Wild imagination!

Tuesday 3:02 pm

Cole jumps into the car after school and has a HUGE grin on his face.

Cole: "Hey Mom, do I look different"?

Catherine: "Hm...I don't think so. Did you spill something on your shirt today?"

Cole: His eyebrows are dancing up and down on his forehead and he's smiling with such excitement.
"We did laps today. I did 12 laps. I'm getting into shape. So I look different today."

and scene.

"A BEAR TOOK A BITE OUT OF MY LEG"

Cole returned home from this hike with his Dad and with a scrap on his leg...and he told me:

"A BIG bear was chasing us and it got me. But then I ran really fast and got away from it."

A Public Art Project

I work for the Idaho Commission on the Arts as well as the Idaho Falls Arts Council and with the Idaho Commission on the Arts my job entails serving as a Public Art Advisor for the southern 1/2 of Idaho. I have many cities and towns that I oversee and help support in programming for public art. Luckily for me I worked on a project here in Idaho Falls with my former boss and on Monday we unveiled the art. The project started in Downtown Idaho Falls and included 20 benches that are essentially public art. We expanded to the greenbelt and have 12 benches installed currently and we will have 10 more benches installed in the Spring. The personal connection for myself to the unveiling was pretty significant as well. The City decided we would be able to install 3 of the benches in the Hilda McClure garden and on Monday we did just that. Here are the photos from the event. My Aunt Hilda donated a generous amount of money to the City of Idaho Falls before we had a greenbelt and her contribution started the greenbelt construction and paid for a large part of the greenbelt.

The benches are titled "Honkers" and you can see they easily can seat one person. Pretty fun!

It's not a birthday party until it's raining candy!

Blindfolded and slightly dizzy.

Carter and his curls.

Little Graysen, Cole's cousin (Chris' cousin Sarah's little girl) She has the cutest smile.
Ever. Really. She does. She's sugar and spice in a little tiny body.

Blindfold off....and time for the real action to begin!

**one note: Chris' grandpa, Gil has on a University of Notre Dame tee shirt. The basement in their house is wonderful space that has paid tribute to Notre Dame as well with a "Play Like A Champion Today" sign as you go down the stairs....with many other items to celebrate the Irish team.

And they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.....
