Late August Happenings

Baby Logan was born! We drove to Logan that night to meet him. Too bad this was as close as our kids could get to him. The hospital had a rule that no one under 14 could go back to see the babies. We totally understood...the kids were just a little sad. He's super tiny in these photos and was just hours old. 6 lbs 9 ounces at birth...but he was 4 weeks early. Go Madi and David!!! They are going to be amazing parents. Logan is a very lucky little boy.

That weekend was the Snake River Duck Race so we headed down to the river for some fun.

Carter turned 4! Wowza. So much fun! So we had a special dinner for him before his party at The Snakebite in downtown Idaho Falls. It is very delicious.

Our little 4 year old on his birthday.

Cole made him a special sign that read "Happy Birthday Carter" and designed a trailer for his remote control car to pull it. Pretty innovative!

Carter's PARTY!

Last weekend we headed to Butte, MT. It has been a super busy month. We were I believe in at least 5 states in a span of 3 weeks. California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Montana.

Butte Farmer's Market and also Artisan Market.

Visited the Mining Museum of Montana and the kids LOVED seeing all the artifacts.

Along with seeing all the HUGE machines.

Pretty awesome. School begins next Tuesday. I'm pretty excited for the kids. It's been a whirlwind of a Summer. I just LOVE summer and the kids do too. One thing we did not do that was on our list of fun for 2012: swimming lessons. So we will have to do that this fall. Cole has flag football with his first game this week and hopefully we can get Carter into a fall sport. He was 2 weeks too young for soccer so we'll find him a sport to begin. Both kids are just incredible and so clever and
unique in their own ways. We are so fortunate.

St Patrick's Day 2012

We drove to Butte, MT early Saturday morning. We had an important Scout event the night before (I'll post pictures of that too soon) so we were up early Saturday morning.

St Patrick's Day is a big deal.

After an early breakfast and cleaning up after the naughty leprechauns who caused all sorts of shenanigans we headed to Butte, MT to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style.

First stop was the parade. For sure all of Butte, MT was there lining the streets. Thousands of thousands of people were there.

Joining us were 2 leprechauns and 1 Notre Dame player.

There were plenty of politicians campaigning in the parade. One guy was on an old tractor.
The rest were walking behind vehicles throwing out plenty of candy.

St. Patrick joined the fun too.

After the parade we headed to the Knights of Columbus. This picture doesn't do that experience justice. There were hundreds of people trying to cram into a tiny area. It was insane.

Later in the day we stopped by the Quarry Brewing

More people everywhere.

Corned beef and cabbage served street-side.

The Metals Bank.

Gin & Tonic and Blarney Stones.

Fun!

Original vault for the Metals Bank.

The Pekin Chinese Restaurant.

More good food and Gin & Tonics. Whoopsie. I had a very good time.

So did everyone else. It was pretty amazing.  The Pekin has been in consecutive business for over 75 years and they are open 365 days a year. They are famous for home-made noodles. (It's probably more than 75 years but I can't find an exact date).

Looking down from Up Town.

Later we found the bagpipers from Edmenton, Canada again.

Sunday Cole and I went to Mass at the one and only St Patrick Church in Butte, MT. It was founded in 1881 before Montana was even a state.

It's gorgeous inside.

What a way to end a crazy hectic week. One word sums it up: Awesome!
